America Online News Flash! (02/04/97)

America Online has informed us that AOL users can update their browsers (which should make viewing dMarie.com much more enjoyable) by typing the following AOL KEYWORD:

128 BROWSER

This is supposed to fix most of the problems AOL users are having viewing our site. Thanks for visiting, and please come back often, as we post new layouts very often!

We welcome our friends from America Online!

After hearing from a few of you guys, we decided to go out and use those "50 free hours" we've been beaten to death with in the mail. And now we KNOW what you're seeing!

Here's the scoop:

With the straight AOL software (3.0 version under IBM compatibles, at least) you can view most of our site without problems. However, you:

...can't get into Photo Chat, as it requires Java and AOL's browser doesn't support it.

...can't see the headings on a lot of our pages (we use white text on tables with colored backgrounds, which looks great under Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer, but won't allow AOL browsers to see it.)

...have to deal with yellow text on a white background in places (again because everyone else sees yellow on black, which is much more appealing.)

Here are your options:

Stick with the site the way it is now. You won't see everything, but the Picture Talk forums work great and the layout pictures still look terrific.

Download and install Netscape 3.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. AOL does support this, and there are instructions in our FAQ and somewhere on the AOL system. This will give you the most functionality, and you'll be viewing the site the way we intended it to look.

Wait a week or so for our new AOL-optimized version of our site. It basically means we have to write everything over, and that it won't look quite as good as it does now, but at least the AOL browser will support everything (except Photo Chat.) Our regular viewers won't see a difference, though, because their version will stay the same.

We're working hard to make this site equally enjoyable for everyone. Hope to see you back again soon (we add new layouts almost every day and hope to add your's too!)
