Upgrading Microsoft Internet Explorer

Step One - Download the Software

First, you must download the Internet Explorer software. You can do this by clicking on the link below:

http://www.microsoft.com/ie/download

Once you get there, follow their on-screen instructions. You can safely download the "Minimum Install" version and NOT the "Full Install" since it's much small and it's all you really need to view this site.

When you get to the screen where you can actually click to download the software, your browser will ask you whether you want to "Open" or "Download" or "Save As".

We suggest you choose the "Download" or "Save As" option and save the upgrade file to your hard disk. There will be a screen that asks you WHERE you want to save the file. Choose an empty folder (directory) if you have one.

Now comes the hard part. SIT AND WAIT. This downloading part could take from a few minutes to over an hour. If it hangs up, go back and try it again. You should see some sort of status message on your screen while it's downloading.

Step Two - Unpack and Install the Software

Once you've downloaded the upgrade (I told you it would take a while!) you can install it. You do this by simply double-clicking on the program icon you just downloaded. There are three ways to do this:

If you're running Windows 95:

Click on MY COMPUTER, then click on your hard drive, then on the folder you saved the software in. When you see the file you downloaded, double-click it to install it. That's all there is to it!

If you're running Windows 3.1x:

Open the FILE MANAGER, click on your hard drive, then on the directory you saved the software in. When you see the file you downloaded, double-click it to install it. That's all there is to it!

If you're running an Apple Macintosh:

Open your hard disk (or wherever you saved the software.) Click on the folder you saved the software in. When you see the file you downloaded, double-click it to install it. That's all there is to it!
