We actually went to Sokkuram before Pulguksa, but I had to put it after so I could keep my double-page spreads together. Sokkuram (literally "rock-cave-shrine") is a grotto with a big Buddha statue inside. It's a UNESCO world heritage site (Pulguksa is too). You aren't allowed to take photos in the grotto, so we were glad to have the picture that came on the ticket stub. On the way back to town a cherry fell through a vent in the bus and hit Doug on the head. I didn't get a picture (or save the cherry) but I mentioned it in the journaling. See notes for Korea 58. |
