Unlike the years past, I decided not to carve a jack-o-lantern out of my 60 lb pumpkin. Instead, I drew (free hand) a picture of Scooby Doo (my son's favorite cartoon) from a Scooby Calendar we were using as a potty training aid. Then I carved away the skin of the pumpkin, leaving skin only where I wanted lines to show through. I carved completely through for the eyes, inner ear and tongue to make them glow brighter. I took photos of it unlit with the lights on, lit with the lights on and lit with the light off so you could tell how it was carved (it is sitting in my son's high chair). The page is fairly simple with just black and orange paper, a basic 'square' font (I don't remember the name) and some pumpkin stickers (which are really part of a Halloween border sticker that I cut down to fit my space). |
