Why I Scrap
By:Sherry
Scrapbooking has become a very important part of my life. When I was first introduced to it approximately two years ago, I felt very inept and unable to produce any of the beautiful pages I seen my co-worker putting together. But I kept feeling drawn back to my album and decided to try again. Scrapping has built up my self-confidence and being able to produce these individual "works of art" has been a badly needed boost to my self-esteem! I feel that it is important that everyone have an outlet for their creativity, and after 40 years, I have found mine! Nothing makes me feel better than to create a page and be able to hold it up and think "good job!" The second awakening scrapbooking has brought into my life is my interest and curiosity into my ancestors. I had never given much thought to those who had "gone before", but now I find myself looking at pictures and wondering "What was going in their life at that time?", "How did grandma feel being raised on a farm." These are things that never seemed important to me in my teens, but now I wish I had spend time with my grandparents talking and looking at old photographs. I don't know what the future holds for my family, but if I ever have any descendants that find they are interested in "great-grandma and the old days", all they will have to do, is look through grandma's scrapbooks!
