Scrapbooking is Important to me Because

By:Tiare S.

Scrapbooking is important to me for many reasons. Not only has it helped me preserve the family history I have, but it helps alleviate stress and gives me a greater since of the important things in life.

Let me elaborate. First, my maternal and paternal families are quite estranged. As, a child I did not know my maternal grandparents and my paternal grandparents have not saved much of our history at all. What I have is me. Our history begins here and now, with my mom, brothers and husband and someday our child. I want our children, neices and nephews, grandchildren, great nieces and nephews to know us and know what we are like and what our lives are like. Scrapbooking allows me to give this to them in a fun, safe and effective way.

Secondly, scrapbooking relives stress for me. After a long day at work, I can come home and be creative. The choices are mine: the colors, shapes, what photos to use and embellishments. I am allowed a time to reflect and remember, to be creative, while preserving a very important part of me, my family and friends. No time constraints, all rules are imposed by me!

Lastly, but surely not least, scrapbooking allows me to be grateful for all things big and small. Ups and downs. At times you get to see where you have been and that it wasn't so bad or this too shall pass. It reminds me that there are plenty of happy moments that I share with many people and that we can get through the hard times.

Simply put scrapbooking enriches your life and will enrich the lives of others for many generations to come.
