Scrapbooking connects generations for eternity

I fell in love with scrapbooking about 3 years ago and my addiction is still going very strong. I never had a scrapbook done for me by my mom while I was growing up. In fact, I am the youngest of 7 kids and even my oldest brother doesn't have a scrapbook. So, it's not something that just I was cheated out of. My mom is great. Don't get me wrong. But, she got an F in preserving memories while she got an A in everything else about motherhood.

I once complained to her that I didn't have any childhood pictures. She said this was pure rubbish and to get my behind to her home. I went over there and sure enough, she had hundreds of photos of me. They just weren't organized or marked of where I'm at or how old I am - but at least they are pictures of me. I told her that she could have at least jotted down the year but she said that she's never done that, she doesn't do it now and she doesn't intend to do it in the future. Then I heard her rumble something about an old dog doesn't learn new tricks and I just smiled at her.

When I started my first album, I started with my wedding pictures and created a gorgeous wedding album. I loved this hobby! I could spend hours doing something more constructive rather than sitting in front of my computer and reading email for hours. I actually had something to show for all my hard work.

I love that I can essentially freeze all of our memories in special moments of time and that each future generation will be able to share in our lives. They'll know everything about us and I think that is such a great thing that will strengthen and endure in our families for many generations to come.

My mother recently was diagnosed with breast cancer. She told me that since she is going through chemotherapy that she now has a lot of time to stay at home and actually wants to learn how to scrapbook. After I picked up my jaw from the floor, I signed on to Dmarie.com and ordered over $100 worth of supplies to get her started on a travel scrapbook. She was so thrilled that the items came in one day and she and I already started her album.

I guess some old dogs can learn new tricks afterall.
