The Therapy of Scrapbooking
By:Jennifer Lind (MplsRN@yahoo.com)
I have always been interested in creative endeavors, but never "got into" scrapbooking until after the birth of my first child, Madison, in January of 2002. Soon after having a miscarriage, I became pregnant with Madison. I had an extremely difficult pregnancy; I was sick nearly the entire nine months, and was hospitalized twice for dehydration. After her birth, I was bombarded with severe postpartum depression and anxiety.
All I had wanted all of my life was a baby; my first one was miscarried, and now I felt so unlike myself I didn't know if I would ever return to the me I once knew. One day, I happened to go into a scrapbooking store in a mall. At first, I just bought stickers...lots of them! Later on, I thought, "This is something I could do!!" I then began my love affair with scrapbooking. It has helped me beyond belief!
It has given me an outlet for my creativity, a boost to my self-esteem, and a hope for the future, as there are so many more pages to do! I've also met so many wonderful people! As far as I'm concerned, scrapbooking is Heaven-sent. :)
