Why is Scrapbooking important?

By:Lesia, Arab, AL

How many times have you looked in your Mom’s closet, for that old shoebox full of black and white pictures of when she was a little girl. Then, you sit down together, go through that box, with her telling you who each person is, what they are doing, and where they are. Isn’t it great to get that history from her. But what if she were gone suddenly? All those stories would be gone with her. There would be nothing left behind to tell which pictures she was in with her sister at the county fair, where they won third prize for their blueberry pie.

If those same pictures had been in a scrapbook, with those stories written down, they would pass on from generation to generation. I want my children to know the stories behind their pictures, and why we took a picture when we did. Scrapbooking gives us a glimpse of our past – without the past written down, it becomes too easily forgotten.
