Scrapbooking

In our busy day to day lives, we sometimes forget to "stop and smell the roses". Scrapbooking helps us discover hidden roses, and relive thier beautiful scent!

As I turn the pages in my many albums, if often isn't the picture of the family around the Christmas tree, or the photo taken on Main Street as Disney World that brings back the fondest memories. We knew those were fun times -- we planned for them, paid dearly for them, and made sure we had our cameras ready. The pictures that bring back the fondest memories are often the snap shots we clicked, just because. My favorite photo in my son's baby book is one of my maternal grandfather holding my newborn son -- he was the first boy in my grandfather's family since his generation -- he had 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters. The look on my grandfather's face is priceless. That is a rose I want to smell again and again. In my daughter's baby book, there is a picture of her hiding under the stool at my kitchen counter -- she crawled under the stool, stood up, and ended up trapped inside the stool -- she couldn't figure out how to get back out! That is another rose I want to smell again and again.

I believe that scrapbooking helps us see the roses in our everyday life, and allows us to revisit them whenever we want to. It isn't about the die cuts, the paper or even the cute titles we work so hard to come up with. It is about the pictures, the stories, and the people. All the embellishments we use on our pages are fun, and they are important, too -- it helps pay tribute to our memories, and it gives us joy -- scrapbooking is also one of the roses in my life!
