The Importance of Scrapbooking

By:Jer, NM

Most will tell you that scrapbooking is important because it preserves your family heritage. I definetly agree, but feel that having a creative outlet benefits not only me, but my entire family. I love matching cardstock, creating the perfect paper piecing, selecting stickers and designing my layouts. I have never been an artist and now I create without the added stress of needing to be perfect. I can barely draw a stick figure, but through scrapping I have created original paper dolls that are an exact match to my children.

Scrapbooking has even provided us with extra income as I have completed four scrapbooks for others. Not many can say that their hobby raked in 1200.00 in extra income. While having a great time I also preserved someone elses memories for a lifetime.

Scrapbooking can bring a family closer together. I have always enjoyed my sister-in-law but have shared many special memories with her since she started scrapbooking. My Mom, sister, Aunt, and cousin have also joined the hobby. We never lack for something to talk about and always have new pages to share. It is amazing when we all scrap the same event and yet our pages are all different and unique. Scrapbooking is a great way to share and grow. The memories that we preserve will be a great testimony to future generations. It really is a super hobby!
