My Legacy Album

By:Rachel

Scrapbooking is important because it defines who we are and where we came from. Scrapbooking is also important in defining our values, our joys, and our mistakes and to make a connection between generations.

I am currently working on a "Legacy Album" for my young daughter. I am putting together this album for her so that she can see what was important to me when I was growing up, so that she can learn about my family as I grew up, and also so that she can (hopefully) learn from my mistakes or at least know that I did make mistakes and that I was able to overcome them.

As a benefit of working on this album, I am also enjoying a renewed sense of connection with my family. Grandparents in far away locations who I only communicated with on holidays are becoming a source of stories and inspirations.
I am learning about myself and my family as I work on this album dedicated to my daughter.

Someday, I won't be around to share the stories of my life with my daughter. On her good days and her bad days, I want her to know that I had good days and bad days, too, and that life is a journey, not a destination. For this reason, scrapbooking has become very important to me.
