Why do I love scrapbooking?

By:Lori W.

Scrapbooking is a nice adjunct to my love of genealogy. All of my life I have been drawn to knowing my heritage. So far life has not allowed me the time to spend as I would like searching my ancestors but someday I plan to do more. For now I am hoping to preserve my life events for my children, grandchildren and generations to come.

My albums will allow my children and granddaughter's to have a record of the events of their lives. They already look through our photos and have memories of times gone by refreshed. I pray a valueing of family and traditions will be instilled in them.

I hope to leave images as well as names and dates to give them a sense of who we were and how we lead our lives. Someday maybe my great granddaughter can look back and say I have my grandma's eyes or nose. Maybe they will also have a love of tradition and heritage which will allow them to appreciate the work I am investing now.

For now I enjoy the walks through my memories that scrapbooking allows me to take. In the future my children will inherit my albums and pass them onto their children. Hopefully they will also preserve their lives for future generations to learn from. I pray they will cherish them and enjoy seeing life how our lives were lived.
