Why is scrapbooking important?

By:Jenny Waite, Michigan

I feel that scrapbooking is important because it gives families an opportunity to share stories and events with others. I know that my Grandmother has many photo albums filled with curling black and white photos. But what I don't know is who those people in the photos are and what is their personal story. I wish I had the time to go through those books with my Grandmother and hear all of the stories that go along with those photos. Instead, I have to study each photo and try to piece together the stories in my mind.

I have a daughter that is the main focus in my scrapbooks. I hope that when she is old and future generations look through her scrapbooks they know more about my daughter than just what they could see from a variety of photos.I hope that these scrapbooks tell the whole story of her life. Not just major important moments, but the day-to-day moments that really explain who she is and what type of a person she is.

Scrapbooking is important to me because it gives me time to reflect and remember the events that fall together that shape the course of our family. It makes me realize that every moment is important and should be cherished.
