Scrapbooking: My Obsession!
By:Denise, CA
When I started scrapping little more than two years ago, little did I know how much it would become a part of my life. Scrapbooking has become my creative outlet, my passion, and a way to ensure that I get a bit of "me time" each day. It has become a way to spend some quality time with me, myself, and I, while still managing to be with my family, in a sense, because I'm working with our photos and reliving and preserving the memories of our fun times together.
As I get further and further into the craft, I've decided that scrapping is a valuable pastime, not just the waste of time or waste of money that many non-scrappers accuse it of being. It is more than pretty cardstock, cute punches, fun paper dolls or other embellishments. It is not just another excuse to shop (although, I admit, that's more than half of the fun!) It is a way to ensure that our future generations get to know us and what was important to us...how we passed our days, how we celebrated, what the world around us was like. It allows them to catch a glimpse of our world.
How I wish my ancestors had known this craft and applied it to their photos. Sure it's great to look at old photo albums, but would be even better to have their handwritten journaling, memorabilia or observations of what was going on in the photos. By spending my free time scrapbooking, I'm giving my grandkids grandkids that look at my life and hope they'll do the same for theirs! :)
