The Reason I Love Scrapbooking

Scrapbooking fills so many of my basic needs. It fills the physical, emotional spiritual, and even financial needs. Not only is it a great hobby, but it is very worthwhile.

I love to create. I am not a very artistic person, but when I am working on my scrapbook pages, I feel creative. I enjoy working with my hands and creating. I can sit and “piddle” or I can get many pages done at one sitting. This creating with my hands fulfills a very basic physical need. I love the simpleness of cutting and pasting. This is an artistic outlet that is perfect for me.

I enjoy scrapping by myself and enjoying the peace of being alone, but I especially love going to crops with friends. This is the emotional need being met. I have made many great friends through my scrapping that will remain friends for a long time. I have also influenced many of my friends to begin scrapping for themselves.

The spiritual part of scrapping is very important to me. I feel close to the Lord when I am happily remembering how much He has blessed my and my family. I almost always say prayers of Thanksgiving when I am working on my book. I give thanks to God for the great family He has given me and for the many blessings He has bestowed.

Financially, scrapping is in another category. Using every extra cent I can find for more supplies is the norm for me. I am constantly looking for ways to save money in my budget so more can be used for scrapping supplies. Oh, maybe I could turn this around and try to make money with my scrapbooking skills; but I don’t want this wonderful hobby to turn into work for me right now.

My entire family benefits from my scrapping. My dear husband is happy because I have found a worthwhile that I enjoy and it makes me happy. My parents are benefiting because I am making sure that our family history will be carried on to future generations. My children will benefit because they will know where they come from and have a sense of direction in place in their lives. This is the most worthwhile pastime a person could ever have.
