Why do I love Scrapbooking

By:Lesia, Arab, AL

Scrapbooking is a way of getting my family’s pictures seen. The photos are the reason for scrapping, and I firmly believe that my husband and children love to look at the albums. Many times I have come into the living room and one of them will have an album in their lap.

Daily lives are documented, as well as “events”. My boys will see what they liked to do when they were younger, and I can always bring out childhood pictures when they start dating. Also, seeing how they grow over the years is easy, as I have evidence of them smaller, with dates on the pages, and then a similar event or trip when they are bigger.

My favorite is at the USS Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. We visited this museum when my youngest was 3 and the oldest was 5, and again when the youngest was 8 and the oldest was 10. We took some of the same shots so that we could compare their growth. The get both sets of pages down to look at the changes in themselves.

Scrapbooking is also a way to document what we do as a family – our trips, our camping excursions, our tournaments for soccer, baseball, martial arts. Day camps that the boys participate in. All the little things we do together, like building a birdhouse and painting it bright blue and red. So, my love of scrapbooking comes from seeing how my kids love it.
